I kind of love when time constraints & budget limitations lead to a smart creative execution. For all the “creativity” that we love to celebrate in awards shows, I think that coming up with smart solutions to problems and challenges is the real value that creatives bring to clients.
In the case of HostGator, we were given two weeks to concept and produce a new YouTube & social media campaign, and not a whole lot of money. The team quickly hit on the consumer truth that, when building your website or online presence, “getting stuck sucks.” It was a very HostGator tone. And then to create breakthrough video footage fast, we turned to user-generated content.
It went on to become HostGator’s most successful ad campaign ever.
GURU GIRLS
Like a lot of brands, the early days of paid social media advertising was just a matter of formatting the TV or YouTube ads for square or vertical aspect ratios. But in working with our social media partners, we began to understand and embrace the need for “concepts” that were built for social media (not simply executions).
This campaign for Guru Girls was a high point. Although we did shoot TV ads, the social ads were far from an afterthought. They had their own concepts, their own shoot day, everything.
